To celebrate the first anniversary of the Rail Merger on 2 December 2008, the MTR Corporation is issuing a limited edition “Rail Merger 1st Anniversary Souvenir Ticket Set” which will be available for sale starting 9 November 2008 (Sunday) while stock lasts.
Each set comprises of three souvenir tickets including the first-generation MTR Single Journey Ticket, the first-generation KCR paper-and-magnetic strip ticket and an exclusively-designed “Rail Merger 1st Anniversary Special Edition (2008)” Single Journey Ticket. The ticket set also comes with a specially-designed ticket holder and a mobile phone strap with three miniature versions of the souvenir tickets and a miniature Ticket Issuing Machine.
Each souvenir ticket is valid for one single ride on the MTR to any destination (excluding the Airport Express, East Rail Line first class, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations, Light Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus) on or before 31 January 2009. The souvenir tickets will be returned to passengers after use.
Priced at $98 each, the ticket sets can be purchased at all MTR Customer Service Centres (except Airport Express, Light Rail, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations). Each person is limited to two sets per purchase while stock lasts.
From 7 to 15 November 2008, passengers who have joined the Airport Express “Ride To Rewards” Programme can also enjoy this special discount by presenting the registered Octopus Card at any Airport Express Customer Service Centres (except AsiaWorld–Expo Station, at the Airport Station, purchase can only be made at the Customer Service Centre on the Arrival Platform) when purchasing this souvenir ticket set while stock lasts.
