Amidst the fanfare of patriotic American citizens, and under the patronage of special guests Dr Richard Vuylsteke, President, American Chamber of Commerce and Dr Dekai Wu, Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong unveiled President Barack Obama’s wax figure, the newest permanent addition to the “world famous home of the famous”.

“Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is excited to be paying tribute to one of the most significant global events of the 21st century and it is a tremendous honour to welcome President BarackObama to our hallowed halls,” said Mr Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Shanghai. “The unveiling today is part of a global celebration across eight Madame Tussauds attractions and we are thrilled that guests around the world will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the President Barack Obama experience.”

To ensure that President Barack Obama’s wax figure would be perfect for Inauguration Day, the sculptors at The Tussauds Studios in London spent months carefully studying hundreds of photos, as well as watching hours of video footage.

Featuring his famous smile and exuding his real life counterpart’s natural charm, President Barack Obama’s wax figure is dressed in a tailored suit and stands in a relaxed informal pose with his arms casually folded.

“The unveiling of President Barack Obama’s wax figure today commemorates a truly monumental event and although we could not be in Washington D.C. in person to congratulate our new Commander in Chief, we are delighted to be part of the festivities here at Madame Tussauds here in Hong Kong where our dedicated volunteers helped so many Americans to vote from abroad,” said Dr Dekai Wu, Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad.

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive experience with President Barack Obama, as they take the limelight in a live broadcast speaking to the audience in the presence of some of the world’s most noted national and historical leaders; including current President of China, Hu Jintao, and former United States President, Bill Clinton.

President Barack Obama’s wax figure will be on display at the Historical and National Heroes section and is one of eight figures created for the Madame Tussauds attractions around the world. Other locations include, London, New York, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Washington D.C. and Berlin.
