Joint climate change exhibition launched

The “Climate is changing, act now!” exhibition jointly organised by the Hong Kong Observatory, the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau, the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau and the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, was launched December 16.  The exhibition will be open to the public until December 28 at the Ground Plaza, HSBC Main Building, 1 Queen’s Road Central.

Heritage Museum shows Chinese paintings by Lee Yue-hong

About 40 Chinese paintings selected from Lee Yue-hong's painting series on "Huangshan Landscapes" and "A Hundred Birds", will go on display from December 14 until September 14, 2009, at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Roving exhibition to introduce tropical rainforest animals

With its rich and diversified natural resources, tropical rainforests are home to more than half the world's animals. People will have a chance to learn more about these animals by visiting an annual roving exhibition staged from December 13 in the new Education and Exhibition Centre of the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

Lantau North (Extension) Country Park opens

Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, November 23 officiated at the Lantau North (Extension) Country Park opening and hiking festival at Tai Ho, Lantau Island.

To celebrate the opening of the 24th country park in Hong Kong, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) organised a hiking excursion from Tung Chung to Mui Wo.  More than 2,000 hikers participated in the event, escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoying the scenic views of Lantau.

MTR tests additional multi-user areas on trains

From 10 May 2008, three trains on the Island Line will be fitted with six additional multi-user areas offering more convenience to passengers in wheelchairs as well as those travelling with baby prams and luggage.
