HK volunteers of Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games awarded certificates

The Home Affairs Bureau November 22 presented service certificates to Hong Kong volunteers serving in the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games to commend their outstanding services. The volunteers were encouraged to extend their volunteer spirit to make further contributions.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Grace Lui, said Hong Kong volunteers’ dedication and selfless contribution to serve the motherland and the Olympic and Paralympic Games had accomplished the mission of staging high-level Games with distinguishing features, leaving a good impression on athletes and audiences from all over the world.

Ms Lui said: "I am really proud of you all and would like to express my heartfelt thanks to such an excellent volunteer team."

She was also grateful to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government for providing impeccable logistical support to Hong Kong volunteers.

Expressing her gratitude to the volunteer team leader and core leaders, Ms Lui said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team leader, Mr Adrian Yip, for his strong leadership and other core leaders for demonstrating exemplary team management skills."

About 100 volunteers attended today's certificate presentation ceremony. Their relatives and friends were invited to join them to visit the various exhibitions held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum free of charge, including the Ancient Olympic Games Exhibition.

Also attending the ceremony were the Deputy Director General of the Youth Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, Mr Zhang Chun-sheng, Division Chief Ms Tang Shu-lan, and the volunteer team leader, Mr Adrian Yip.
