Limbless speaker inspires PUCI inmates

One hundred and sixty-four inmates of the Pik Uk Correctional Institution (PUCI) attended a rehabilitation-related seminar conducted by a limbless overseas guest speaker, Mr Nick Vujicic, in the institution today (November 24).

The event, entitled "Give Up? Get up!", was jointly organised by the Correctional Services Department and Christian Prison Pastoral Association.

Mr Vujicic shared with the inmates his life experiences in overcoming despair and striving for a better future. He encouraged them to face their problems and mistakes in a positive way, endeavouring to turn over a new leaf and to never give up.

Mr Vujicic's support for rehabilitated offenders in Hong Kong has highlighted the importance of and need for the local community to accept and support them.

The Australian speaker overcame his disability and graduated from college with a double major. He has travelled extensively to give talks since he was 17, motivating and inspiring people in their own lives.
