Astronauts get Peak view of Hong Kong

They were met by the Commissioner for Tourism, Miss Margaret Fong, Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board Mr James Tien, and Executive Director of Hong Kong Tourism Board Mr Anthony Lau. Members of the delegation rode the Peak Tram to the popular tourist attraction where they toured Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, the Peak Tower Sky Terrace and the Visitor Centre.

In Madame Tussauds, head of the delegation Zhang Jianqi and astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Liu Boming and Jing Haipeng, stopped for a photo opportunity with a wax figure of the first Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei.

Next stop was the Peak Tower Sky Terrace where the delegation enjoyed the spectacular panoramic view of Victoria Harbour.

The members then proceeded to the Visitor Centre at the Peak Piazza operated by the Hong Kong Tourism Board before ending this morning's visit. The delegation was briefed by a representative of Hong Kong Tourism Board on the range of visitor information services provided by the centre, which features the revitalisation and adaptive re-use of a decommissioned peak tram cabin. The tram was in service from 1959 to 1989.
