A beautifully-designed set of special Chinese New Year commemorative MTR tickets will be on sale beginning 11 January 2009 to ring in the Year of the Ox. It is the last set in the second series of Commemorative Tickets that have been very popular since their launch in 1998. The Year of the Ox Commemorative Ticket Set is definitely something you don’t want to miss.
Each souvenir ticket set consists of two eye-catching MTR souvenir tickets. One features a life-like image of an ox while the other is decorated with a traditional Chinese design. The set also comes with a specially designed ticket holder and a golden ox keychain with photo frame. Each person is limited to two sets per purchase.
“The Year of the Ox Commemorative Ticket Set is an ideal choice for a Lunar New Year gift, especially for those using the expanded MTR network to visit relatives on the first day of the Chinese New Year,” said Ms Annie Leung, Senior Manager – Sales and Marketing of MTR Corporation.
Each commemorative ticket allows passengers to take unlimited MTR rides on the MTR network (except the Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, to or from Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations) from midnight on 26 January 2009, the first day of the Chinese New Year, to the end of MTR train services at 1:00am on 27 January 2009. The tickets will be returned to passengers as souvenirs after use.
The Year of the Ox Commemorative Ticket Sets are $60 each, and will be available for sale at all MTR stations (except the Airport Express, Light Rail, Lok Ma Chau, Lo Wu and Racecourse stations).
MTR Club members can enjoy priority purchase through the Corporation’s website at www.mtr.com.hk from today (30 December 2008) to 8 January 2009 or by cash in person with email notification at MTR Travel in Admiralty Station on 9 and 10 January 2009.
As in past years, the Corporation will donate 5,000 ticket sets to the Community Chest to help raise funds for charity.
