Hongkong Post November 30 announced that a set of stamps based on the theme of "Stonecutters Bridge" will be released for sale together with associated philatelic products on December 17.
Stonecutters Bridge straddles the Rambler Channel at its entrance to the Kwai Chung Container Port. Approaching from Stonecutters Island on the east and Tsing Yi Island on the west near Container Terminals 8 and 9 respectively, it forms a key element of Route 8 between Tsing Yi and Cheung Sha Wan. Hongkong Post is pleased to issue a set of special stamps to mark the completion of this major infrastructure project.
Official First Day Covers priced at $1 each will be on sale at all post offices from Thursday (December 3), while stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from December 3-9.
